No Bagel Left Behind: Empowering Communities

Our goal is to lower the amount of food wasted in local communities, feed the hungry, and make a positive environmental impact. We want to get more people involved so we can have a more widespread impact.

• When food is not eaten, all of the energy and water that is used to harvest, package, and transport it, goes to waste
• Approximately 6%-8% of all human caused greenhouse gas emissions could be reduced if we put an end to food waste
• In  just the US, the amount of food that goes to waste is equivalent of 32.6 million cars’ worth of greenhouse gas emissions
• ⅓ of all food produced in a year is wasted 
• Every time food is wasted, all of the resources that were used in each step of the production process are also wasted
• People living in middle to high income countries are more likely to waste food, while people living in developing countries are more likely to protect food resources

• Plan your meals for the week ahead thoroughly, and only buy what you need, make      reasonable grocery lists
• Store as much food as possible in your freezer
• Be  creative with your leftovers, make meals out of them
• Blend fruits together to make delicious smoothies, even if they do not look      freshly ripe

• 47 million people in the USA are facing food insecurity
• 1 in 5 children face hunger
• 14 million children in total in the USA are facing hunger
• 100% of counties in USA have food insecurity
• In 2023, more than 50 million people turned to food assistance to get the help that they need
